Almost, Maine
Welcome to Almost, Maine: a town that isn’t quite a town, because its residents never got around to organizing. On one cold, clear winter night, under the glow of the northern lights, the townsfolk find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised, hearts are broken, but both heal… almost.
This witty, romantic play is told through nine magical vignettes about love and connection. With a strong ensemble cast and plenty of surprises, this midwinter night’s dream will be directed by award-winning theatre artist Ilkay Silk.
Almost, Maine will be presented in the Black Box theatre, Nov 26-29, 2025. For more information or ticket enquiries, please email us at [email protected]!
The Jellyfish Show
Playful and brave, candid and silly—The Jellyfish Show invites actors into the creative process. Through movement and text, the cast will help build the story while exploring how we compare and connect our lives with others, the comfort of chosen family, finding solace in ourselves… and how sometimes a play should be playful.
Written & directed by STU alum, Samuel Crowell, this development process will be an exciting opportunity to be a part of a new, joyful work of theatre.
This development process will culminate in a public performance in the Box, Jan 22-24, 2026. For more information or ticket enquiries, please email us at [email protected]!
Year End Reflections
As Charlie prepares to graduate high school, tensions rise within the family over Charlie’s gender expression. Kristen, Charlie’s mother, struggles between fierce love for her child and a lack of understanding. With help from an old friend, can this family bridge the gap—or will they remain divided?
The workshop of Year End Reflections supports the growth of James Lockyer’s winning submission for the Braver Stages Festival, 2024.
This development project culminates in a staged public reading, March 13-14, 2026 For more information or ticket enquiries, please email us at [email protected]!
Cantankerous Young Women
Cantankerous Young Women is a student-led, research-driven theatre project that explores themes of everyday sexism and the creation of safe spaces for women. Through a process rooted in community-based research and devised theatre techniques, the project invites student actors to collaborate in the co-creation of the script and performance.
Working under the guidance of director Rachel Rowan and researcher Alex Dawson, participants will explore a variety of creative methods including dance, physical theatre, poetry, and traditional scene work to craft the piece.
Cantankerous Young Women will be presented as a dynamically staged reading, March 20-21 in the Black Box Theatre (located in James Dunn Hall, STU Campus.) For more information or ticket enquiries, please email us at [email protected]!
Macbeth
Guilt, ambition, and the corrupting pull of power make this Shakespeare’s darkest tragedy. In this bold new 6-person touring adaptation, the witches’ prophecy sets Macbeth on a path of murder, madness, and fate—encouraged by the ruthless Lady Macbeth. For one time only, we may safely speak “Macbeth” aloud in the Black Box Theatre. This new version has been adapted & directed by Black Box Productions’ own Rhett Ellis.
Macbeth will be presented in the Black Box Theatre (located in James Dunn Hall, STU Campus.), March 26-28th, 2026. For more information or ticket enquiries, please email us at [email protected]!
